TOKYO: A rift was left between Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, also the Liberal Democratic Party’s president, and the party’s Vice President Taro Aso and Secretary General Toshimitsu Motegi after a bill to revise the Political Funds Control Law cleared the House of Representatives on Thursday (June 6).

In negotiations to amend the bill, Kishida fully accepted a demand from LDP coalition partner Komeito while Aso and Motegi were wary of making a major compromise.
