Man involved in shooting of goldsmith, looting cases nabbed in Mandalay

YANGON: A man (pic) who was involved in the shooting of a goldsmith and looting of gold jewellery in Aung Mun Thaman township, Mandalay region, has been arrested.

According to the Ministry of Information, gold jewellery were also seized as evidence in the operation on Thursday (June 20).

On June 13, at 5.20pm, businessman U Win Aung, was leaving to town on a motorcycle to the Aung Mun township when an unidentified man approached from behind on a motorcycle and allegedly shot him with a gun.

The injured U Win Aung was rushed to the Mandalay public hospital.

He, however, succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical treatment.

Police said the case was being investigated under Section 54 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

The suspect was arrested on June 18 at his home along with several items seized as evidence. - Eleven Media Group/ANN
