Vangvieng to get a boost as national tourist site


VIENTIANE: The Lao government has decided to upgrade Vangvieng in Vientiane province, to a national-level tourist site.

The decision was made at the government's monthly meeting for June, which was chaired by Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, local news website Lao Phattana News reported on Wednesday (June 26).

A master plan will be drawn up to regulate the development of tourist facilities in the Vangvieng district and the surrounding area throughout 2024-2034.

Central and local authorities will be required to draw up a system of environmental protection based on the need for cleanliness, safety, green spaces, and sustainability. - Xinhua
