Boyfriend arrested in ‘hung woman’ case in Cambodia; foul play in women's suicide after man confesses strangling her

PHNOM PENH (Khmer Times): Police have arrested the boyfriend of a woman, whose body was found hanging from a beam in Phnom Penh last weekend, after he fled to Siem Reap.

Chan Dalin, 23 years old, was arrested in Siem Reap on the 28th of June, in connection with the murder of Suon Makara , 22, a native of Takeo province and confessed that he strangled his girlfriend because of jealousy.

Chan’s body was discovered by her father, after he had been concerned that his daughter was not answering her phone.

He went on the afternoon of June 23, 2024 to the room on the first floor along Street 287 in Sangkat Boeung Kak I, Khan Toul Kork, Phnom Penh and found it locked.

The door was forced open and the body was discovered, hanging from a metal beam.

Residents told police that before the incident at 3 am on June 22, 2024, they saw the victim and a man go up to the room together and then enter the locked room. - Khmer Times
