Joint op in Jalan Kianggeh ahead of Brunei Sultan's birthday

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Several offences were unearthed during a joint operation on Tuesday (July 9) night conducted by the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) through the Brunei-Muara Police District and law enforcement agencies.

The operation aimed to ensure the smooth implementation of His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 78th birthday celebration on July 15 through crime prevention.

According to the RBPF, 194 enforcement personnel were involved in the operation from Brunei-Muara Police District, Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED), Narcotics Control Bureau, Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD), Internal Security Department, Labour Department, Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB) Municipal Department and Department of Electrical Services (DES).

The operation, commenced at 11pm, was led by Acting Assistant Commanding Officer of Brunei-Muara Police District (Operation) and targeted two areas in Jalan Kianggeh.

The RCED found three offences of contraband possession namely alcohol, vape and cigarettes, while four foreigners were detained by the INRD for failing to produce valid documents.

The BSB Municipal Department also discovered an abandoned vehicle in public area, while the DES found an illegal meter bypass.

The operation on Tueday is among the proactive measures of law enforcement agencies in combating any criminal activities in the country as well as to foster cooperation among the participating agencies. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
