Police foil contraband smuggling attempt


BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Personnel from Bangar Police Station in the Temburong District on Tuesday (July 9) night foiled a contraband smuggling attempt after seizing 360 cans and 48 bottles of alcohol as well as 140 packs of cigarettes.

According to the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), a suspicious vehicle was spotted by police personnel during a patrol, driving from the boat landing area in Kampong Negalang.

The vehicle was found abandoned on a road heading to Kota Batu in the Brunei-Muara District.

The contraband (pic) was found during an inspection of the vehicle and handed over to the Royal Customs and Excise Department.

The RBPF also called for the public to share information on smuggling or criminal activities through law enforcement hotlines. – Borneo Bulletin/ANN
