Six dead after shooting at hotel in Thai capital Bangkok, media report


BANGKOK, July 16 (Reuters): Six people were left dead after a shooting in a hotel in Thailand's capital Bangkok on Tuesday, Matichon newspaper and other Thai media reported, citing local police.

A Thai police official confirmed off the tragic incident adding that they were Vietnamese nationals.

The police official, speaking on condition of anonymity, dismissed earlier reports in Thai media that the six people had been killed in a shooting.

"There is no sign of a shooting," the official told Reuters, without elaborating further.

Vietnam's embassy in Bangkok did not answer a call from Reuters on a telephone number listed on its website.
