Thai Embassy plants trees to support Brunei's green goal

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: A tree-planting activity was organised by the Thai Embassy in Brunei Darussalam at the Berakas Forest Reserve on Sunday (July 21) to mark His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn of Thailand’s 72nd birthday.

It also aimed to support Brunei Darussalam National Climate Change Policy to increase the Sultanate’s carbon sink by planting 500,000 trees by 2035, as well as celebrated 40 years of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Thai Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Boosara Kanchanalai said the activity was the third organised by the embassy since 2021.

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) Tutiyati Abdul Wahab attended the event as the guest of honour.

Deputy Permanent Secretary II at the MPRT Dahliana Aliakbar, Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary at the MPRT Noralinda Ibrahim, Deputy Director of the Forestry Department Reni Yahya and Assistant Director of the Forestry Department Mardani Mahadi were also present.

Seventy-three saplings of baru-baru, ru laut and penaga laut were planted at the event. – Borneo Bulletin/ANN
