BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Engaging with businesses is crucial for trade policy officials, Assistant Deputy Minister, Trade Policy and Negotiations of Global Affairs Canada Bruce Christie, as Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) Chair for 2024 said.

“It helps us gain insights into the challenges faced by industries and allows us to adjust trade policies accordingly ensuring that they are responsive to business needs, help enhance business’ competitiveness and support economic growth,” he said at the stakeholder engagement session ‘How to Utilise the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) to Take Your Business Further’ at the Ministry of Finance and Economy’s (MoFE) Theatre Hall Wednesday (July 24).

Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Datuk Seri Setia Dr Awang Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah and Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Fiscal) Pengiran Datin Seri Paduka Zety Sufina Datuk Paduka Sani were present.

The event was organised by the MoFE together with Global Affairs Canada and the Department for Business and Trade, the United Kingdom.

It was to promote the benefits of the CPTPP and provide networking opportunities for the participants.

Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Chong Chin Yee, High Commissioner of Canada to Brunei Darussalam Ambra Dickie, senior officials from the MoFE, and local business community representatives were also present. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
