Myanmar holds seminar marking 70th anniversary of Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence

YANGON: A seminar commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence was held on Thursday (July 25) in Yangon.

During the seminar organised by the Chinese embassy in Myanmar, Cao Jing, charge d'affaires of the Chinese embassy, said that over the past 70 years, the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence have become open, inclusive and commonly applicable norms of international relations and principles of international law.

For more than 70 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Myanmar, the two countries have always cherished friendship and practiced the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, Cao said.

China will continue to actively practice the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, strive to build a community with a shared future, support Myanmar in exploring a path that suits to its national conditions, and provide assistance for Myanmar's stability, national development and people's happiness, Cao added.

U Ko Ko Hlaing, union minister for the Ministry of the State Administration Council Chairman's Office (2), said that China and Myanmar are indivisible neighbours.

The two countries maintain a close relationship and adopt the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence with consensus.

China and Myanmar's bilateral relations have overcome numerous difficulties and challenges, and acquired significant achievements, U Ko Ko Hlaing added.

Present at the seminar are representatives from the Chinese embassy in Myanmar, the State Administration Council Chairman's Office, Myanmar Institute of Strategic and International Studies, Yangon Region Committee of Union Solidarity and Development Party, Myanmar-China Friendship Association, Yangon University of Foreign Languages as well as many other distinguished guests. - Xinhua
