BANGKOK (The Nation Thailand/ANN): Some 30,000 chickens drowned when a contracted farm in the Bo Rai district in Thailand’s Trat province was hit by a flash flood on July 27, the owner of the farm said on July 28.

The distraught farm owner Pipop, 77, said he was contracted by a large company to raise 40,000 poultry chickens, which were almost ready to be handed over to the firm.

But 30,000 of them died on the night of July 27 when the flash flood hit the farm in Tambon Bo Ploy.

He said it rained heavily at 8pm on July 27 and the water rose very fast, and he could do nothing to save the chickens as it was dark.

He informed the company.

However, it did not send help in time and 30,000 of the birds were found drowned in the morning.

He said he had asked the firm to rush to take the remaining birds away, and he had yet to consult the Trat Livestock Development Office on what to do with the massive number of dead chickens. - THE NATION THAILAND/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
