BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Brunei Darussalam delegation participating in the 10th Asean Plus Three Junior Science Odyssey (APTJSO-10) in Siem Reap, Cambodia, won medals in various categories.
The delegation was divided into two teams. Team ‘A’ comprised Jerudong International School students Nu’man Lamun, Noor Izatol Syafiqah Saiami and Barizah Alya Syasya Romi Irwin. They were accompanied by supervising teacher and mentor from Sayyidina Ali Secondary School Hafiz Aizuddin Ansanawi.
Meanwhile, Team ‘B’ comprised International School Brunei students Zayyan Aaryan Noorhadzrin, Alya Irdina Muhammad Shahmun Azimin and Sharifah Ayesha Al-Insyirah Shaikh Sharul Azhar.
Supervising teacher and mentor from Berakas Secondary School Nurul Faizah Ya’akub accompanied them. S
Sharifah Ayesha Al-Insyirah from Team ‘B’ received the Outstanding Award for Individual Student bronze medal for her overall performance across three categories – video competition, quiz competition and pitching competition.
She also won the gold medal in the individual quiz competition while Zayyan Aaryan from Team ‘B’ and Nu’man from Team ‘A’ won silver medals and Noor Izatol Syafiqah from Team ‘A’ and Barizah Alya Syasya from Team ‘A’ won bronze medals.
Meanwhile, Team ‘B’ won a bronze medal in the team video competition.
The APTJSO is an annual programme targetting students between ages 13 to 15 from Asean+3 countries.
This year’s APTJSO-10, themed ’Racing Up Against Climate Change’, was held from July 22 to 26.
It was organised by Cambodia’s Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation (MISTI) in collaboration with the Asean+3 Centre for the Gifted in Science (ACGS) and supported by Asean.
The Centre for the Development of Gifted and Talented Education (EDGE) coordinated the participation of Brunei’s Ministry of Education.
Two EDGE officers, Rozi-Suzanah binti Yatab as the Secretariat representative, and Lunayati binti Tuah as the Head of Delegation and Liaison Officer for the programme, attended APTJSO-10. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
