Bruneian goes to trial on theft charges

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Magistrate Sharifah Nur Baqiyah Malai Shahran on Thursday (Aug 1) fixed trial for a local man, who denied charges of theft.

Armi Sarbini, 66, denied stealing two backpacks from a convenience store on July 15.

Co-accused Julaime Yakup, 49, pleaded guilty earlier and had been sentenced to six months in jail.

According to the prosecutor, Julaime and an accomplice, driven by a getaway driver, stole unattended backpacks from the convenience store.

The theft, captured on CCTV, involved a laptop and a pen drive, which were later recovered by police.

The victims discovered the theft through CCTV footage, and Julaime was promptly arrested. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
