BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The “Scout Go Solar” workshop for The Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association (PPNBD) Scout Trainers was officially launched on Sunday (Aug 4) at the PPNBD Building.

Officiating the launch was the Chief Scout Commissioner Awang Junaidi Hussin.

The “Scout Go Solar” initiative is a timely and forward-thinking programme.

Solar energy, being both renewable and inexhaustible, plays a crucial role in reducing our carbon footprint while also fostering economic opportunities through green technology, according to the Scout Commissioner.

He emphasised that the workshop supports global climate change efforts and represents a proactive approach to educating and empowering young people about the benefits and importance of solar energy.

“I am confident that this programme will greatly benefit the participants.

"They will gain both theoretical knowledge about solar energy and practical experience in applying this technology.

“This will provide them with a new perspective on how we can care for the environment while simultaneously meeting our energy needs in a more sustainable way,” said the Commissioner.

It is hoped that the ‘Training for Trainers – Scout Go Solar’ workshop/course will run smoothly and successfully achieve all its set objectives and that the participants will complete the workshop with knowledge and inspiration that they will carry forward and share with their respective Scout teams.

The four-day workshop is set to conclude on Aug 7 and is being facilitated by Assoc Prof Ts Dr Mustaffa Ibrahim and Abdul Hadi Mohamed Zainal. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
