Sungei Besi goes boom! Indian music dynamo HipHop Tamizha performs an amazing and electrifying rock all-night show for delirious fans in KL

HIP HOP TAMIZHA, one of South India's superstar musician, promised to give his best for his Malaysians fans. Not only he kept his promise, but he upped the ante for rock concerts in the country.

Supported by talented friends and also local talents and dancers, the almost five hour concert which started as early as 7pm, was all heart-stomping, high energy throughout the night and just rocked away the more than 20,000 fans that jam-packed the KL Base venue in Sungei Besi.

What a rocking show filled with kind words and advises for all those who were at the venue. And those magic words that every one of his fans will love and remember for a long time as Adhi repeatedly said: "Always remember, you guys are not just my fans. You are my brothers and sisters. And for the younger ones, I'm your big brother, and always believe in yourself. Work hard and be honest, success will come."

But advises aside, this performance at the venue, will be hard to be forgotten by everyone who was at the event.

Hardly taking a break the very moment he came on to the stage at exactly 8pm. He mesmerised just about every one, no matter what age, as thousands just continued to chant his name every time.

Belting out hits after hits, and also some of his hits during his underground music days, it was just a cracking show.

And kudos also to his back-up singers whom he keep saying they were his buddies rather than anything else. And his usual collaborating singers who were also on stage throughout the show, simply superb.

HipHop Tamizha Adhi was ably supported by V.M. Mahalingam, Kaushik Krish, Vushnupriya Ravi, Khareshma Ravindran and the very popular ChinnaPonnu, all acoomplished singers themselves.

Said to be India's answer to the hip hop music scene, the 34-year-old Adhi together with his partner Jeeva has a big following in Malaysia.

Recently, the duo also won plaudits with his show in Wembley London. Adhi made history as the first Tamil Hip Hop artist to perform at the OVO Arena Wembley, underscoring his global influence and commitment to Tamil Hip Hop’s growth.

At that time, he said the KL concert will even be better. He kept those words, all right. It was indeed a blast of a show.

He had also invited many top rappers from Malaysia and they too gave performances that many will remember for a long time. Among the local invitees to join Adhi on stage was popular local actor Magendran Raman, who also doubles up as a radio deejay in the hugely followed morning show Kalakkal KALAI in THR Raaga.

He also made sure, all his back-up dancers were not only locals but young students at colleges in the country.

While other top musicians usually make it a point to bring their own dancers from their own country or music school, Adhi decided to do it the other way around.

He instead sent his dance master and other of his team's choreographers to come to to Malaysia much earlier and then train the Malaysian youngsters to dance to his famous tunes.

"This is my special way of saying thanks to my many fans in Malaysia. You know, many Malaysians were already my fans during my underground days. They definitely helped me to be here. You guys have always been amazing," he said.

"Also, I want this show to be memorable. That is why I preferred local dancers to help me out here. And I'm sure you enjoyed their performances too right," - as fans gave a thunderous applause to the Malaysian dancers.

During a special moment, he even thanked a young six-year-old boy who presented to him a special coat which Adhi wore for the last hour of the show.

And as a showman with some groovy moves, Adhi proved to be as classy as those many top showmen out there. And to make it even more sweeter, Adhi even started giving a lot of his coats and other gifts to the fans at the venue. He even gave away many special frisbees with his signature to the fans.

"I have many gifts for my fans. I mean, you guys took time and spent so much to see me here. I hope this little gifts will make the night even sweeter," much to the huge roar from the fans.

Adhi also expressed his deep-rooted connection with Malaysia, hailing it as the cradle of Tamil Hip Hop.

“Malaysia and Tamil Hip Hop are synonymous,” he remarked passionately.

“Since Malaysia is the birthplace of Tamil Hip Hop, I wanted to prioritise a super duper show here. To me, Malaysia is the capital of Tamil Hip Hop.

“Malaysia is also very special to me. I want to give a shoutout to Malaysia for its support of the Tamil independent music scene.

“Even before they hype of film music, Malaysia already had an alternative scene where they devised a separate genre called “Samba Rock” created by Darkkey who is a huge influence,” he said.

HipHop Tamizha, comprising Adhi and Jeeva, gained prominence for their distinctive blend of Tamil lyrics with urban beats, revolutionising the Tamil music scene.

Their viral debut “Club le Mabbu le” catapulted them to fame in 2011.

In Malaysia, Tamil Hip Hop emerged as a vibrant subculture, pioneered by singers like Yogi B, Psychomantra and Chakra Sonic. These artists laid the foundation for Tamil Hip Hop’s expansion into a mainstream genre.

Adhi added that his concert in Malaysia symbolises a tribute to the birthplace of Tamil Hip Hop, celebrating its evolution from an alternative scene to a global phenomenon.

"I love this place. And this place has so much love for me. I wish every Malaysian Tamil plenty, plenty of success. and I hope everyone here enjoyed the show," were his parting words, as even Jeeva joined Adhi as they bade farewell to the fans.

And everyone one of the fans at the event will definitely agree, whatever shortcomings they saw or encountered when arriving at the venue, no matter what, all was forgotten as Adhi gave all a show that will always be remembered by his thousands of fans.
