BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): The Marine Police patrol unit stationed in the Putat zone detected two suspicious boats moving swiftly through the Terusan-Kupang river area on Monday and pursued the boats.

One of the suspect boats was found floating near Kampong Setia’s waters, while the other escaped, taking the boat’s operator with it.

The abandoned boat was seized along with several suspicious boxes and brought to the Marine Police base for further investigation.

Upon further inspection, the boat contained 19 boxes holding 950 cartons of various brands of cigarettes. Additionally, one box and two cans of assorted alcoholic beverages were discovered.

All seized contraband has been handed over to the Royal Customs and Excise Department for further action.

The Royal Brunei Police Force urges the public to report and share any information regarding criminal activities through the hotline 993 or at any nearby police station. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
