Myanmar holds photo contest to mark upcoming World Tourism Day

YANGON: Myanmar's Ministry of Hotels and Tourism is hosting a photography competition in Yangon to mark the upcoming World Tourism Day 2024 in September, U Nanda Aung, director of the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism said on Wednesday (Aug 7).

Contest participants are required to submit their works from Aug 5 to 23, focusing on Myanmar's tourism destinations as well as costumes and traditions of ethnic groups in the Southeast Asian country, he told Xinhua.

Winning photos will be put on display in celebrating the World Tourism Day 2024 on Sept 27 in Nay Pyi Taw, where the awards will be presented.

Additionally, these photos will serve promoting Myanmar's tourism industry, he said.

In addition to the photo contest, feature article and video clips competitions are also being held to mark the tourism day, he said. - Xinhua
