Myanmar exports over 510,000 tonnes of rice in first four months of FY 2024-25


YANGON: Myanmar exported 510,911 tonnes of rice and broken rice in the first four months of the current fiscal year 2024-25, earning US$256 million, according to the Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF) on Saturday (Aug 10).

The country exported 111,862 tonnes of them in April, 71,279 tonnes in May, 162,326 tonnes in June, and 165,444 tonnes in July respectively, the federation's figures showed.

The South-East Asian country exported the rice and broken rice to more than 30 countries including China, Indonesia, Belgium, Burkina Faso, Spain, and Cote d'Ivoire, the MRF said.

In the 2023-24 fiscal year, Myanmar exported over 1.6 million tonnes of rice and broken rice, earning over US$845 million, according to the federation. – Xinhua/ANN
