YANGON (Eleven Media Group/ANN): The price of gasoline has risen to more than 3,000 kyat per litre (RM6.16), and some gas stations are unable to sell certain types of fuel, according to motorists in Yangon.
According to the price specifications of the Fuel Import, Storage and Distribution Supervisory Committee, fuel prices on August 30 were 3,100 kyats per litre of 92 Ron, 3,240 kyats per litre of 95 Ron, 2,655 kyats per litre of diesel and 3,295 kyats per litre of premium diesel in Yangon.
As a result, the prices of 92 and 95 Ron are increased by 125 kyats each. The price of diesel has increased by 45 kyats per litre and 95 kyats per litre for premium diesel.
The previous fuel prices were 2,975 kyats per litre of 92 Ron, 3,115 kyats per litre of 95 Ron, 2,610 kyats per litre of diesel and 3,200 kyats per litre of premium diesel.
Even though the price of fuel has gone up, some fuel stations are unable to sell certain types of fuel.
"The price of fuel has gone up, but there are fuel stations that only sell 92 Ron and premium diesel. Some gas stations only have 95 Ron and diesel. Most of them don't have 92 Ron, and most of them don't have diesel," said a car driver in Yangon.
As of the afternoon of August 30, one of the motorists said that there was no car queuing to buy fuel at gas stations in Yangon.
"I haven't seen long lines of cars queuing for fuel. There are about four or five cars," he continued.
Starting from August 1, the drivers had to queue up to buy fuel at petrol stations in Mandalay and Yangon.
It took about three to four days to buy fuel like that, and after that the situation was returned to normal.
However, in mid-August, the drivers had to queue up to buy fuel, and the number of vehicles that had to queue up was more than before.
After about four or five days, there were no more vehicles queuing to buy fuel due to the influx of oil tankers carrying fuel.
The State Administration Council announced on August 22 that six oil tankers are waiting at Yangon River Pilot, and four ships have arrived at the jetties in the Thilawa port area, and more than 70,000 tons of diesel and 11,000 tons of gasoline are being filled in the storage tanks.
