375.5kg of waste collected during beach clean-up in Brunei

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Over 375 kilogrammes of rubbish was collected during a cleanliness campaign at the Muara Beach recreational park on Sunday (Sept 1).

The ‘Coastal Marvel’ campaign, organised by the Ministry of Education, saw 230 personnel from the Department of Schools and their families participate in the beach cleaning efforts.

The campaign, launched in 2021, is an initiative by the Ministry of Education to support the Steering Committee on Cleanliness Issues (JIIK) in protecting the environment of Brunei Darussalam.

It also aims to raise public awareness about cleanliness issues on the coast caused by marine debris, while collecting data on the types of waste found in coastal areas. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
