Two foreigners sent to court for slaying of policeman in Phnom Penh

PHNOM PENH (Khmer Times): Two foreign criminals, involved in the shooting death of a police officer in Phnom Penh, were sent to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court this morning.

The two gunmen were apprehended by police on August 29, 2024, in Preah Vihear province.

They were arrested after the shooting of Kong Wutty, 36, a police officer serving in the Intervention Unit of the National Police, with the rank of lieutenant colonel (four and a half), the deputy director of the Rescue Operations Office.

Kong was killed after the Chinese criminals drove a Ford Ranger into the MERCEDES BENZ S560L car he was driving on the night of August 27, 2024 in Krapeu Trom Village, Sangkat Rolous, Khan Dangkor, Phnom Penh.

After crashing and stopping the victim’s car, three gunmen got out and fired several shots at the victim’s car, using a AK47 rifle.

The criminals also injured a Chinese passenger, while another Chinese national was abducted.

Kong was seriously injured and died on arrival at Lok Sang Hospital. - Khmer Times
