MANILA: President Ferdinand Marcos Jr on Wednesday (Sept 4) said he has not spoken with Vice President Sara Duterte since she resigned from her post as education secretary on June 19.

“The last time I spoke to her was when she handed me her resignation,” said Marcos in a chance interview while conducting an aerial inspection of the effects of severe tropical storm Enteng in Metro Manila.

“And we haven’t spoken since,” he added.

Duterte resigned as Department of Education chief last June 19, effectively leaving Marcos’ Cabinet, and was replaced by former Senator Sonny Angara exactly a month later.

Since then, the vice president began openly assailing the Marcos administration.

In response to a recent statement made by Duterte where she apologised to members of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC) for urging them to vote for Marcos in the 2022 elections, the President said it was her “prerogative.”

“Well, it’s her prerogative. I still don’t understand why, but if that is her wish, we can’t do anything about it,” he said. - Philippine Daily Inquirer/ANN
