BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Law Enforcement Division at the Labour Department during a recent inspection at Jalan Bungai Rambai in the Belait District, uncovered three offences committed by the employers on local and foreign workers.

Officials found the employers had failed to grant leave on public holidays, grant sick leave certified by medical practitioners and failed to provide emergency aid equipment.

Meanwhile, an operation at RPN Kampong Panchor Mengkubau uncovered three offences committed by the employer.

Two offences were for misusing foreign worker’s licenses where foreign workers were found cutting grass from house to house and employing foreign workers without the written permission from the Labour Commissioner.

The employer, if found guilty of breaching Employment Order, 2009, faces a fine of not more than BND1,000.

The employer will be produced in court if he or she fails to pay the fine. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
