TANGERANG, Indonesia: National carrier Garuda Indonesia has introduced a new Boeing 737-800NG aircraft featuring a MotoGP-themed livery, showcasing the IndonesiaGP and Mandalika branding, reported Antara news agency.
The aircraft, revealed in Tangerang, Banten, on Wednesday (Sept 11), sports a distinctive colour scheme and graphics reflecting the MotoGP identity. This special livery is a result of a collaboration between Garuda Indonesia and PT Pengembangan Pariwisata Indonesia (ITDC), according to the airline's president director, Irfan Setiaputra.
Irfan remarked that the launch of this new aircraft design is aimed at attracting tourists and providing exceptional service to MotoGP Mandalika attendees.
"We are committed to ensuring a seamless experience for spectators and tourists during the MotoGP event," Irfan stated while echoing the airline's commitment.
Irfan explained that the decision to design an aircraft with the MotoGP livery is part of his strategy to entice potential Garuda flight passengers to visit Mandalika, West Nusa Tenggara.
The new aircraft design will be available on specific routes, including Jakarta, Surabaya, and Bali.
It will also be used to transport MotoGP crew, officials, and racers.
Additionally, Garuda Indonesia will offer special flights to Lombok, Mandalika, with approximately eight thousand passenger seats during the Indonesian Grand Prix to be held on Sept 27-29.
PT Pengembangan Pariwisata Indonesia (ITDC) President Director Ari Respati expressed optimism that the new Garuda aircraft design would attract and boost tourism at the Indonesian MotoGP event.
He highlighted the importance of Garuda Indonesia's services in facilitating the activities of MotoGP participants at the Mandalika Circuit. - Bernama-Antara
