MANILA: The number of reported deaths from the combined effects of southwest monsoon (habagat) and tropical cyclone/ depression Ferdie, Gener, Helen, and Igme rose to 25, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Saturday (Sept 21).
The figure, however, is still for validation, based on the agency’s report as of 8 a.m. on Saturday.
Meanwhile, three people were confirmed injured while six remain missing.
The NDRRMC also said that a total of 387,755 families, or 1,449,333 individuals, were affected by the recent rains and flooding.
A total of 5,783 families or 23,512 individuals, were attended to inside 199 evacuation centers, while 11,778 families, or 50,695 persons, were served outside evacuation centers.
The inclement weather conditions also affected 122 roads and 14 bridges nationwide.
Meanwhile, damage to agriculture, so far, was pegged at P600 million.
Tropical Storm Ferdie (international name: Bebinca), Tropical Depression Gener, and Tropical Storm Helen (international name: Pulasan) affected the country one after the other, continuously strengthening the southwest monsoon and triggering downpours and strong winds since last week. - Philippine Daily Inquirer/ANN
