Phase one construction of Indonesia's new capital city Nusantara nears completion


JAKARTA (Xinhua): The construction of Indonesia's new capital city (IKN) Nusantara in East Kalimantan province has reached 93 percent completion for its first phase, according to Danis Hidayat Sumadilaga, head of the IKN Nusantara Infrastructure Development Task Force on Sunday.

Phase one includes government buildings, ministerial residences, and housing for civil servants. Sumadilaga emphasized that 20 ministerial houses have been completed so far, with 14 more under construction. The task force aims to finish 28 houses by October this year.

He said that several key buildings in the core government center (KIPP) are scheduled for inauguration in October, including Coordinating Ministry Office Buildings 1, 2, and 4.

"We hope that the inauguration for several buildings at IKN's KIPP can be realized," he stated.

According to National Development Planning Minister Suharso Monoarfa, the second phase of development in Nusantara will focus on public infrastructure such as malls, hospitals, schools, and places of worship. - Xinhua
