Fuel prices in Philippines to increase up to P1.10 a litre from Sept 24

MANILA: Fuel prices will increase beginning Tuesday (Sept 24), oil companies have announced in separate advisories.

Seaoil, CleanFuel, Petro Gazz, and Shell Pilipinas said the per-litre costs will rise by P1.10 for gasoline and 20 centavos for diesel.

Kerosene, on the other hand, has no price movement during the period.

These upward adjustments in the prices of gasoline and diesel came two weeks after big price rollbacks on petroleum products.

Rodela Romero, director of the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Oil Industry Management Bureau, earlier said the increases could be blamed on external factors, such as the US Fed Reserve’s “aggressive” interest rate cut and the Middle East conflict.

As of Sept 17, the year-to-date net increases of gasoline and diesel stood at P4.85 and P1.75 per litre, respectively. Kerosene, meanwhile, had a net decrease of P6.35 a litre. - Philippine Daily Inquirer/ANN
