Lao president Thongloun to attend 19th Francophonie Summit in Paris


VIENTIANE: President Thongloun Sisoulith (pic) will lead a high-level delegation on a state visit to France where he will attend the 19th Francophonie Summit, set to take place in Paris from October 4-5.

The two-day visit by President Thongloun and his delegation is in response to an invitation from the President of the Republic of France, Emmanuel Macron.

The 19th Francophonie Summit will focus on creativity, innovation and the ability to do business in French, with representatives of over 100 countries expected to attend.

Initiatives organised by heads of state and government of the International Organisation of La Francophonie will be guided by the theme “Create, innovate and do business in French”.

The inaugural session will take place in Villers-Cotterêts at the Cité Internationale de la Langue Française on October 4.

The plenary session, closed session and closing session will continue at the Grand Palais in Paris on October 5.
