Cambodian cops' karaoke crackdown op nets nine illegal Vietnamese and drugs


PHNOM PENH (Khmer Times): A crackdown on a KTV of ill repute at Cambodia's Bavet City in Svay Rieng Province netted nine Vietnamese nationals and a substantial quantity of illegal narcotics at the premise.

The raid took place on the Oct 1 at the KTVBWOW karaoke shop in Bavet Kandal Village, Bavet Sangkat, Bavet City, Svay Rieng Province.

Speaking to the media, Brigadier General Keo Sotha confirmed that the specialised force of the Provincial Anti-Drug Office led by Colonel Kan Ken, Director of the Office in cooperation with the Bavet City Police Inspectorate, led by Colonel Major Em Sovannarith, Bavet City Police Inspector, launched an operation to crack down on drug trafficking and illegal use.

He said that during the operation, the specialised force arrested 9 Vietnamese suspects, confiscated and seized exhibits related to the crime.

Among substances that were seized included ketamine weighing 1107.16 grams, ecstasy weighing 1252. 12 grams, 5.13 grams of methamphetamine, 2364.41 grams (2 kg 364.41 grams). There were also nine mobile phones, three motorcycles, six passports and five Vietnamese ID cards that was confiscated.

Currently, the suspects, along with exhibits, has been sent to Svay Rieng Provincial Court for legal action. - Khmer Times/ANN
