Laos fortifies security for upcoming 44th, 45th Asean Summits

VIENTIANE: (Bernama-VNA) Lao authorities are ramping up security for the 44th and 45th Asean Summits and related meetings scheduled to take place in Vientiane from October 8 to 11.

Vietnam news agency (VNA) reported head of the Vientiane Traffic Police Department Sen. Lt. Col. Sangkhom Phommalath had revealed a plan involving over 200 checkpoints manned by more than 700 officers to manage traffic and ensure the safe and smooth movement of senior leaders and representatives from various countries and international organisations attending the summits.

All preparations have to date been completed.

According to VNA, Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone also called on all officials, military personnel, public security officers, and citizens to actively perform their respective duties, roles and responsibilities to ensure the success of the meetings. - Bernama-VNA
