Hong Kong police are investigating a suspected animal abuse case after a 14-year-old mini Doberman was brought to a clinic with blistered skin and its fur falling out.
The force said on Sunday that it had received a report at 6.50pm from the dog’s owner, who alleged its wounds were inflicted by his domestic helper.
Images shared with local media outlets by the owner also showed the skin along the dog’s back had become blistered and clumps of its fur had fallen out.

Police are handling the incident as an animal cruelty case, with officers from the Eastern district investigation unit following up. No arrests have been made so far.
The owner said his domestic helper had been responsible for the dog’s care, adding the animal had been suffering from diarrhoea for several days and had stopped eating.
The man said he brought the dog to a veterinary clinic in Ching Wah Street in North Point after discovering it was bleeding from a wound along its back.
A veterinarian found multiple injuries and peeling skin, with one wound the size of a palm, after shaving some of the dog’s fur, he added.
The owner said the injuries were believed to have been caused by a hot or corrosive liquid four to seven days earlier.
He told local media that the helper had been employed since January and had recently asked for leave to go home for Christmas.
The owner said he had refused her request as she had been employed for less than a year.
