BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Poni Divers and LAUT Brunei marked a significant achievement by handing over the first-ever Reef Ball crafted by Brunei students to Jerudong International School (JIS) through JIS Dive Club Wednesday (Oct 9).

This milestone highlights the school’s dedication to marine conservation and environmental education.

The commemorative Reef Ball was fabricated by JIS Students from the launching of the first Reef Ball School Program held at JIS’ Outdoor Discovery Centre last November 2023.

Since then, Poni Divers and LAUT Brunei has continued working with JIS on the Reef Ball School Program, engaging students in marine conservation talks, and fabricated a total of 34 Reef Balls, some of which have already been deployed at a dedicated JIS Reef Ball site at the Pelong Rocks.

Present in the awarding ceremony were LAUT Brunei representatives Donna Baltazar and Fatnin Shah, with JIS Faculty Members Sue Mead and Dani Mason. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
