HANOI (Bernama-VNA): Fifteen Vietnamese banks have been named among the world’s top 500 banking brands, according to the latest rankings by Brand Finance, a leading global brand valuation consultancy.
Of the 15 banks, nine improved their rankings, three were included for the first time, while three experienced slight drops, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reported, citing the Vietnam Banks Association.
Specifically, Vietnam International Commercial Joint Stock Bank (VIB) climbed 66 places, from 491st in 2023 to 425th in 2024.
HCM City Development Bank (HDBank) moved up 33 places to 366th in 2024 from 399th in 2023, while Sacombank rose 32 places to 322nd. ACB ranked 243rd, improving by 30 places, and Vietinbank moved up to 157th from 171st in 2023.
Other banks seeing higher rankings include BIDV (151st, up ten places), Vietcombank (133rd, up four places), Techcombank (160th, up three places) and MB (227th, also up three places).
TPBank, LPBank, and MSB entered the list for the first time, ranking 326th, 424th, and 458th, respectively.
However, some banks saw slight declines with Agribank dropped from 159th in 2023 to 162nd, VPBank fell from 173rd to 175th, and SHB slipped from 419th to 436th.
The Brand Finance report noted that the combined value of the world’s top 500 most valuable banking brands has reached a record level of US$1.44 trillion, nearly double what it was a decade ago.
Chinese banking brands showed a recovery in value, maintaining their hold on the top four positions for the most valuable banking brands. ICBC (Industrial and Commercial Bank of China) continues to be the world’s most valuable banking brand for the eighth consecutive year, posting a three per cent increase in brand value to US$71.8 billion.
China Construction Bank, Agricultural Bank of China and Bank of China secured second, third and fourth places, respectively. - Bernama-VNA
