Myanmar: Three men arrested for grisly murder and robbery of woman in Nay Pyi Taw apartment

YANGON (Eleven Media Group/ANN): In the Nay Pyi Taw Council area, it has been reported that three male suspects involved in the grisly murder and robbery of a woman were arrested inside an apartment in the Zabuthiri Township.

On October 7, 2024, at 11 AM, security forces received information regarding the death of 61-year-old Daw Sandar Moe, who was found with stab wounds inside her apartment at K-1, Room 13, in the Thukha Taw Win residence of Zabuthiri Township.

Upon investigation, they discovered her body lying on the living room floor with multiple stab wounds. Consequently, a case was opened under Section 302/392 of the Penal Code at the Zabuthiri Township police station (No. 9), aimed at identifying and apprehending the perpetrators.

To facilitate the investigation and capture the suspects, a special task force was formed. They gathered evidence from the scene and, based on information from the public and additional inquiries, managed to track down the suspects.

The suspects identified were Myo Min Tun, who was staying in a hideout near the Thukha Taw Win residence in Zabuthiri Township, arrested on October 10 at 1pm, and Ko Phyo (aka Phyo Thet Paing), who was apprehended on October 11 at 9pm in Mandalay, as well as Ye Lin Oo (aka Ye Ye), arrested on October 12 at 3pm aboard a passenger vehicle traveling from Magway to Mandalay.

The State Administration Council reported that the recovery of stolen evidence along with the arrests.

According to the statements from the suspects, Ko Phyo (aka Phyo Thet Paing), who worked in the painting business, learned that Daw Sandar Moe, a close acquaintance of his employer, lived alone in K-1, Room 13, at the Thukha Taw Win residence. It was revealed that he conspired with Myo Min Tun and Ye Lin Oo to murder Daw Sandar Moe on the afternoon of October 5 to steal her belongings due to his personal and financial difficulties.

On October 6, the day of the incident, they purchased two machetes with blades measuring approximately 10 inches from a local market, as well as three pairs of gloves from a pharmacy within the Thukha Taw Win residence.

At around 6:30pm, they entered Daw Sandar Moe’s apartment. While she was fetching rice for them, Myo Min Tun and Ko Phyo (aka Phyo Thet Paing) attacked her from behind, and Ye Lin Oo stabbed her several times with a knife they had brought. They then stole a pair of earrings, a Samsung Galaxy A32 smartphone, and 20,000 Kyats from her.

The suspects were apprehended for their involvement in the murder and robbery. Legal action is being taken against them in accordance with the law, as reported by the SAC. - Eleven Media Group/ANN
