Laos to enhance public health system

VIENTIANE: The Lao Ministry of Health has reiterated the need for all health-related legislation to strengthen the public health system and improve the health and well-being of the public.

The new laws on health and primary health care aim to ensure access to quality healthcare services, protect public health, and promote the well-being of all citizens, according to a report from the ministry's Center of Information and Education for Health on Thursday (Oct 17).

The laws will improve the quality and safety of healthcare services, and strengthen the qualified healthcare workforce.

Additionally, the ministry is helping update the relevant laws on health insurance, medicines and medical products, and other legislation with support from the World Health Organization and other development partners. - Xinhua
