PHNOM PENH (Khmer Times): A Chinese national caused traffic chaos in Cambodia's capital Phnom Penh on Friday night when he smashed his car into a vehicle, stall and a house.

Police said it was due to the fact the Chinese man lost control of his car and he was ordered to pay a total compensation of US$8,500 (RM36,500) to the vehicle, stall and house owners.

The incident took place at 12:40am on Friday morning (Oct 18) along Phnom Penh Street, at the corner of Traffic Light 92, located in Sangkat Kork Khleang, Khan Sen Sok.

Sources say that the Chinese driver, who was accompanied by two Vietnamese women, lost control of his vehicle at high speed and slammed into a motorcycle, then a seafood stall and then into a house, causing severe damage.

Onlookers detained the driver, who later paid US$7,000 in damages to the house and stall owners while the scooter driver was paid US$1,500. - Khmer Times
