BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Brunei Darussalam Scouts Federation (PPNBD) officially wrapped up the 67th Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) and the 28th Jamboree on the Internet (JOTI) on Sunday (Oct 20), marking a successful celebration of scouting and technology.
During the closing ceremony held at the Scouts Training and Activity Centre in Beribi, Skipper Muhammad Arman Jahran Abdullah Besi, Acting Headquarters Commissioner for Media and IT at PPNBD, underscored the importance of JOTA-JOTI as a vital platform for introducing scouts to contemporary technologies.
He noted that this initiative not only strengthens bonds within Brunei but also fosters connections across the region and globally.
Arman further emphasised the fruitful collaboration between PPNBD and the Brunei Darussalam Amateur Radio Association (BDARA), indicating plans to draft a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance future partnerships.
The ceremony was officiated by Chief Commissioner of Scouts, Junaidi Hussin, alongside BDARA President Major (Rtd) Tamat Lampoh.
The event, which ran from October 18 to 20, successfully gathered participants from various scout branches nationwide, embodying the essence of scouting by connecting youth around the world through radio communication and online platforms.
Throughout the three-day event, scouts engaged in a variety of interactive activities, including International Radio Communication Sessions, which enabled participants to communicate directly with scouts from other countries, sharing experiences and cultural insights.
Educational activities and online challenges encouraged creativity and problem-solving skills through interactive games and quizzes, facilitated by the World Organisation of Scout Movement (WOSM).
Additionally, workshops on Cybersecurity and Online Ethics were conducted by PPNBD, focusing on the responsible use of technology in today’s digital landscape.
The successful conclusion of JOTA-JOTI reflects PPNBD’s ongoing commitment to nurturing youth leadership through technology and fostering global collaboration.
The event equipped scouts with the confidence to connect with peers around the world, highlighting the significance of communication technology in our rapidly evolving society.
Present at the closing ceremony were Scout Commissioners, BDARA members, Scout leaders, Adult Scouts, and scouts from different branches, including Cub Scouts, Junior Scouts, Venture Scouts, and Rover Scouts, all of whom contributed to the vibrant spirit of scouting. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
