PHNOM PENH (Khmer Times): Cambodia and WHO signed a joint cooperation agreement to enhance Cambodian’s health and well-being.
The cooperation agreement 2024-28 was signed by. Prof. Chheang Ra, Minister of Health and Dr. Saia Ma’u Piukala, WHO Regional Director for the Western Pacific on Monday (Oct 21).
The signing ceremony was held on the occasion of the Health Minister attending the 75th session of the World Health Organisation Regional Committee for the Western Pacific in Manila, Republic of the Philippines.
The strategy sets out a common vision and joint efforts to improve the health and well-being of the Cambodian people over the next five years, contributing to the achievement of the first phase of the Pentagonal Strategy focusing on employment, growth, equity, efficiency, sustainability.
It is also aims to build the foundations for achieving the Cambodia Vision 2050, which underlines the Royal Government’s commitment to achieving the goals in the Roadmap for Global Health Coverage in Cambodia 2024-2035 and the Sustainable Development Goals.
The Minister emphasised that this strategy will be a guide for the next five years of collaboration and cooperation aimed at improving the health and well-being of the Cambodians
The focus is on delivering these three results:
1. Accelerate global health coverage through the integration of quality services and systems by re-orienting primary health care.
2. Promote the health of individuals, families, and communities through activities in and beyond the health sector.
3. Strengthen the health security system to increase the preparedness, response, and resilience of high-risk public health emergencies. - Khmer Times
