BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): A 24-year-old unemployed man pleaded guilty to multiple theft charges in the Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, where Magistrate Normazdina Mohd Maskub set sentencing for Tuesday (October 22).

Deputy Public Prosecutor Abdul Musawwir Mahli revealed that the defendant, Mohammad Aiman Harman, along with three others, stole a fibre glass boat, a 60-horspower engine and a boat trailer from a house in Kampong Kasat between the evening of September 8 and the morning of September 9. The items are valued at BND7,540.

The defendant admitted to towing the boat and trailer away in a vehicle and later selling the boat and engine for BND2,000 in Limbang.

The defendant received only BND50 from the sale and police recovered only the boat trailer.

In a separate incident on September 14, the defendant and his accomplices stole another boat from the back of a filling station in Kampong Suran, Tutong. CCTV footage revealed the theft, and the defendant later admitted his involvement. The boat, valued at BND350, was recovered.

Mohammad Aiman, who has no previous convictions, faces charges under Section 379, Chapter 22 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of three years in prison, a fine, or both. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
