BEIJING: A knife attack in China’s capital Beijing left five people, including three minors, wounded on Monday (Oct 28), the police said in a statement.
The stabbing occurred at about 3.20pm near the intersection of Wanquanzhuang Road and Wanliu Zhong Road in Beijing’s Haidian district, added the police.
The suspect, a 50-year-old man surnamed Tang, was arrested.
The five victims were taken to hospital. None of their injuries were life-threatening, the police said, adding that investigations are ongoing.
The site of the attack is where one of the branches of Zhongguancun No. 3 Primary School is located, reported Reuters and several Chinese media outlets.
Social media posts on Weibo said the stabbing occurred outside of the school gate, but this was not confirmed by the police.
In a video posted online, the victims are seen lying on the ground, which is stained with blood.
The pupils were reportedly leaving the school, said to be one of the best primary schools in Beijing, when Tang charged towards them with a kitchen knife.
