16-year-old boy charged following alleged assault and robbery in Australia's Brisbane


SYDNEY (Bernama-Xinhua): A 16-year-old boy was charged following an alleged assault and robbery in South Brisbane, police in the Australian state of Queensland said in a statement on Saturday.

Investigations indicate that before 1 am local time on Saturday, a 23-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy who were walking near the South Bank pools were approached by a group of people not known to them.

The man and the boy were allegedly both physically assaulted by the group and allegedly had several items stolen. After that, the group of people left the area.

The 23-year-old man was transported to hospital with serious injuries, and the 15-year-old boy was also taken to hospital for treatment.

Police said that following enquiries, officers located a 16-year-old boy at around 2:40 am local time and took him into custody.

He has been charged with two counts each of assaults occasioning bodily harm in company, robbery in company, and one count of affray. - Bernama-Xinhua
