Brunei, Singapore discuss key education developments

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the Ministry of Education Dr Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati Tajuddin co-chaired the 14th Joint Working Group Meeting (JWG) between the Ministry of Education (MoE) of Brunei Darussalam and the Ministry of Education of Singapore, with Permanent Secretary (Education) at the Ministry of Education, Singapore Lim Wan Yong on Thursday (Nov 14).

The MoE of Brunei Darussalam, hosted the 14th JWG, which is an annual event that serves as a platform to discuss key education developments, review ongoing collaboration and explore new areas for future partnership in education.

This year, both ministries shared updates on Early Childhood Care and Education and internship initiatives within Technical and Vocational Education and Training.

The Sultanate updated Singapore on the progress of educational collaboration such as the School Twinning and Immersion Programmes while Singapore highlighted on-going initiatives, among others.

Further areas for future collaboration were discussed during the meeting which included increasing teacher and student exchanges, as well as Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) integration in the curriculum.

The MoE of Brunei Darussalam took the Singapore delegation for a visit to Sultan Hashim Batu Apoi Primary School in Temburong District to showcase the school’s achievements and expose the delegation to the Early Childhood Education initiative and STEAM activities of the school. Deputy Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education Dr Chin Wei Keh was also present. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
