Local hiphop superstar Yogi B and rising songstress Arulini to join music prodigy GV Prakash on stage in Bukit Jalil on Dec 7

KUALA LUMPUR: Celebrated Indian music director, singer, and actor GV Prakash's concert in Malaysia is set to close 2024 for Tamil music fans with an unforgettable musical bang, as the final star-studded local line-up has been confirmed.

For the record, on the Malaysian side, it is exciting to know local hishop star Yogi B and Arulini Ashwiinaa will share the stage with the Indian music superstar.

What makes this event more special is that the Malaysian singers will not sing their own hits but will also share the stage with GV Prakash on what will be a memorable night for Malaysians come Dev 7 at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil,

Aptly titled 'GV Prakash - Live in Malaysia: A Celebration of Life' will bring together an epic roster of talents, making it one of the most highly anticipated Tamil music events of the year. Besides the Malaysians, GV Prakash is also bringing his roster of talented music singers which included his ex-wife Saindhavi, who he has shared many memorable songs.

As for the local front, Yogi B, whom many consider the godfather of Malaysian hip-hop, will certainly much more excitement for the Malaysian fans with his confirmation for the event.

As a backgrounder, Balakrishna Ganeshan Yogeswaran Veerasingam, popularly known by his stage name Yogi B, was born on December 14, 1974, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is a Malaysian Tamil rapper and music producer. He is noted for his pioneering contributions to the Tamil hip-hop genre.

Yogi B founded the Malaysian hip-hop group Poetic Ammo in the mid-1990s. The group considered among the best early top hiphop groups had also churned out many songs in the local scene.

The mid-2000s were transformative for Yogi B, marked by a surge in the popularity of Tamil hip-hop. His collaboration with the rap duo Natchatra, consisting of Dr Burn and Emcee Jesz, played a pivotal role in this rise. In 2006, Yogi B achieved notable success with the release of the album Vallavan. Yogi B also served as the executive producer of the album.

Besides that achievement, Yogi B has also sang many songs for top Tamil hit movies with leading top actors like Simbu, Vijay, Dhanush, Ajith and even the super famous Rajnikanth. His classic rap song in the movie 'Polladhavan' is still heard in local radios till today.

His recent foray with Tamil films was ''Tamilarasan'', a 2023 movie which starred Vijay Anthony.

Arulini, 22, made the country proud with her powerful run on the fourth season of the reality singing television show, where she was selected after auditioning in Kuala Lumpur.

With her consistent performances and ability to wow the judges, Arulini made it to the last round before the grand finale, proving herself as a formidable talent. She is considered as one of the young Malaysian singers who can make it good in Tollywood and Kollywood movie arenas.

As for the GV Prakash concert, Malaysian fans can certainly look out for another fascinating and captivating show. GV Prakash is also coming out with the Malaysian concert after a wildly successful outing in Coimbatore last year that saw over 75,000 tickets sell out in record time.

For his first-ever live concert outside his home country, GV Prakash has chosen Malaysia as the venue and for his Malaysian fans, it's an exciting opportunity for locals to witness the musical superstar live on stage, delivering an electrifying show filled with his iconic hits and star-studded collaborations.

The composer, actor, and music producer has earned a reputation for creating magic, with his music featured in nearly 100 Tamil and South Indian films.

Ticket sales for the concert have been excellent, with around 11,000 tickets already sold. With a final push, the organisers are aiming for a full house of 15,000 attendees, nearly reaching the venue's full capacity

Following a hiatus to focus on his acting career, his return to the stage has been epic, and recent hits like Amaran and Lucky Baskhar have reignited his musical genius, and fans are eagerly awaiting his live performance.

GV Prakash had said he’s keeping an eye on social media for fan requests and suggestions leading up to the concert. “Whatever the people of Malaysia want, I’ll perform!” he said, sparking even more excitement among fans eager to hear their favourite songs live.

Born into a musically inclined family with his uncle AR Rahman being a major influence, he made his debut as a composer in 2006 with Veyil and gained recognition for his work on the hit soundtrack of Aadukalam in 2011.

Apart from music, he ventured into acting in 2015 with Darling, where he was also praised for his performance with several other movies.

Known for his versatility, GV Prakash blends traditional Tamil music with contemporary sounds, creating hit tracks for films like Ratsasan and Jai Bhim. His unique dual career as both a composer and an actor is definitely a treat for Malaysian fans.
