Malaysian NGO seeking help for little boy Shao Heng who has trouble breathing and born with congenital genetic defects

PETALING JAYA: A three-year-old boy has much trouble breathing and his current health condition is extremely critical. The Persatuan Kebajikan Sayap Kasih Malaysia, a Malaysian NGO organisation, is now desperately seeking funds to improve the toddler's health.

The NGO based in Jalan Gasing in Petaling Jaya since 2012 is now requesting crowdfunding to save the child's life.

In a statement to the media "Three-years-old little Shao Heng was urgently hospitalised twice in a single month. He even had to rely on an oxygen mask for breathing at one point, his health condition was extremely critical.

"Due to discomfort, fever, and constant vomiting, he spent over 10 days in the hospital, totaling a medical cost more than RM20,000.

"Little Shao Heng has congenital genetic defects and a weak body, requiring long-term medical treatment and rehabilitation. Even with slight discomfort, he must be taken to the hospital immediately.

"Therefore, we must prepare RM80,000 for Little Shao Heng's expenses for a year, to make sure that his treatment will not be interrupted.

"Little Shao Heng was born with congenital genetic defects, he has various issues including brain abnormalities, ventricular septal defects, interrupted aortic arc issue, gastrointestinal and throat problems, and more.

"He is completely unable to care for himself, maintain a sitting position, stand, or walk. He also relies on a gastric tube for feeding," said the statement.

According to the NGO records, upon his birth, Little Shao Heng was abandoned by the hospital. At just one and a half months old, he was sent to IQ70 Plus in 2020. Through long periods of treatment and rehabilitation, he has grown stronger.

"Shao Heng is now three years old, but his journey of treatment is still ongoing.

"Therefore, we must accumulate a reserve of RM80,000 for Little Shao Heng's annual living and medical expenses. This primarily includes his medical costs, consultation fees, physiotherapy and speech therapy expenses, milk formula, diapers, gastric tube costs, 24-hour care taker expenses, and others," added the statement.

Details of Little Shao Heng's expenses:

Medical and consulatation expenses (According to last year expenses)= RM23,924.25

Physiotherapy and speech therapy - RM1756.66 x 12= RM 21080.80

Full time care taker - RM1,900 x 12 = EM22,800

Milk formula expenses - RM503.25 x 12 = RM6,039

Daily expenses, diapers, feeding tube, etc.- RM500 x 12 = RM6,000
