According to a recent article by Travel and Tour World (TTW), the southwestern Kampot province, known for its scenic landscapes and historical charm, has emerged as a focal point of Cambodia’s tourism growth.
“Hosting the 11th Sea Festival, Kampot has showcased its potential as a premier travel destination. The festival, which celebrates Cambodia’s maritime heritage, featured cultural performances, water sports, and local cuisine, drawing thousands of visitors from around the world,” the article noted.
According to it, Kampot’s appeal lies in its unique blend of natural beauty and cultural experiences. “From exploring pepper farms and colonial-era architecture to cruising along the Kampot River, visitors are captivated by the province’s tranquil yet vibrant atmosphere,” the article noted while showering praises on its attractions.
Adding to its charm is the recent opening of the Kampot Multipurpose Port, a deep-water port that will boost both industry and tourism and the temporary inauguration of the International Tourist Port, developed in partnership with the Asian Development Bank.
While launching the 11th Sea Fest, Prime Minister Hun Manet noted that the new ports will enhance Kampot’s connectivity with other provinces and neighbouring countries. “The arrival of a Thai cruise ship, the first vessel to dock at the International Tourist Port, immediately following its inauguration on December 12 is evidence of this,” the Prime Minister said.
Mr Hun Manet also praised the cooperation of relevant ministries, institutions and the Kampot provincial administration for achieving these milestones, which hold significant value for the tourism sector.
It should be noted that Kampot province has become a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors for weekend getaways and holidays. The increasing influx of tourists is attributed to the continuous development of new tourism products, providing more diverse options for travellers. - Khmer Times
