Welcome 2025!: The musical light projection show is part of a series of events across Singapore to celebrate the new year. — The Straits Times/ANN
Projections depicting a galaxy, butterflies and birds are some of the works of art that will light up the facade of The Fullerton Hotel from Dec 26 to 31.
These original works were created by artists with disabilities from ART:DIS, a local non-profit organisation that seeks to provide learning and livelihood opportunities for people with disabilities through art.
The projections are presented in collaboration with community partner and local philanthropic organisation The Majurity Trust.
The musical light projection show – the second edition of Brightening Lives – is part of the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown to usher in 2025.
The colourful projections will run daily every 15 minutes from 8pm to 10.30pm (except for Dec 31, when the last run is at 10.45pm).
Each show lasts for six minutes.
This year’s theme, Thriving, encourages the community to reflect on what it means to thrive in Singapore, where everyone, regardless of background or circumstance, has opportunities to succeed.
The show comprises three newly commissioned art projections, and five existing works in other forms adapted for projection.
One of the three new works is Piece By Piece by Brennan Tay, Crystal Tay and Sophie Valerio.
The building blocks and a vast galaxy that it depicts are symbols of how different people’s unique talents can unite to open up unlimited possibilities.
Another commissioned work, In Flight, by Amelia Tan, depicts vibrant flocks of birds navigating different environments, representing the determination to grow and rise above hardships.
The third new work, Abraham Koh’s Thriving in Singapore, is a contemporary piece that portrays Singapore as a melting pot of people from diverse backgrounds. — The Straits Times/ANN
