Fuel tanker crashes into tea shop in Tamwe, injuring two

YANGON: A fuel tanker crashed into a roadside tea shop near Arthawka bus stop in Tamwe township on Monday (Dec 23) evening, injuring two.

The accident occurred at around 5pm when the fuel tanker was travelling along Thamain Bayan Road from Arthawka bus stop towards Tamwe mosque. Reports indicate that the vehicle lost control and collided with the tea shop near the Arthawka traffic light.

“The brakes failed, and it lost control, crashing into the tea shop by the roadside. It happened around 5pm, and the road is still blocked,” said a local resident near the scene.

The tea shop owner and a woman who was waiting in front of the shop were injured in the incident. The woman, who was seated at the tea shop, sustained serious injuries.

“Both have been sent to the hospital,” said a member of the Red Cross team who arrived at the scene. - Eleven Media/ANN
