31 people, including women and children, in bus-car crash on Christmas eve in the Philippines

MANILA (Bernama-Xinhua): Thirty-one people, including elderly women and children, were injured on Tuesday morning in a traffic accident involving a small bus and a car in Pampanga province, north of Manila, police said.

Around 9 a local time, the small bus lost control, spun around, and hit a car before tipping over on its side on a grassy section on the side of the highway in San Fernando City, police said, adding that both vehicles were heading north.

Police said the injured people, which include a 10-month-old infant, were transported to a nearby hospital.

A witness told local television that the victims managed to escape through an opening in the rear of the bus, but many bus passengers sustained wounds in the forehead and other body parts. - Bernama-Xinhua
