VIENTIANE: Lao Telecommunications Public Company (Lao Telecom), one of the country’s leading telecommunications providers, has officially expanded its 5G services to Champassak province, located in the southern part of Laos.
The official launch ceremony was held on Tuesday (Dec 23) in Champassak province and was attended by Governor of Champassak province Alounxay Sounnalath, Deputy Minister of Technology and Communications Dr Santisouk Simmalavong and Director General of Lao Telecommunications Public Company Souphol Chanthavixay, along with management and employees from affiliated companies, dealers, business partners and the media.
Lao Telecommunications Public Company is the first network in Laos to introduce 5G technology to enhance social services.
It has currently launched 5G services in 10 locations across Champassak province, including Pakxe city. Plans for future expansion include additional areas deemed suitable for 5G coverage, according to the company.
During the ceremony, special 5G data packages were distributed to guests attending the event and to customers using 5G services in Champassak province for a free trial period.
