SINGAPORE (The Straits Times/ANN): The 2025 Budget statement will be delivered in Parliament on Feb 18 by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.
There will be live television and radio coverage of the Budget statement. A link to a live webcast of the delivery will be available on the Singapore Budget website.
Key announcements from the Budget statement will be updated on the Ministry of Finance’s social media platforms and readers can get live updates on The Straits Times’ website.
The complete Budget statement will be available on the Singapore Budget website after it has been delivered, said the Finance Ministry on Dec 27.
The cost of living and job security are among concerns that will likely be addressed in PM Wong’s first Budget as prime minister.
In a Nov 8 press conference, PM Wong, who is also Finance Minister, said that preparations for Budget 2025 had begun and outlined four broad themes that will be covered in consultation sessions with the public.
These are economic strategies for the next bound; opportunities for skills upgrading and jobs for workers; support for Singaporeans across different life stages; and strengthening Singaporeans’ sense of solidarity and unity as the country marks SG60.
Public consultations by the Finance Ministry and various agencies, such as government feedback unit Reach and the People’s Association (PA), are ongoing and will last until Jan 12, 2025.
These include both virtual engagements and physical ones in the heartland to seek views and suggestions from Singaporeans. - The Straits Times/ANN
